>Classroom training>Statutory Sick Pay & the 2026 Reforms
Course overview
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) has been part of UK payroll since 1983 and until now, has seen very little change. From 6th April 2026, the Employment Rights Act introduces significant reforms that strengthen employee rights and fundamentally change how SSP must be applied.
This course provides a practical overview of how SSP operates today and what will change from April 2026. We will explain the updated rules in plain terms, highlighting the key differences employers need to understand to remain compliant. We will also explore the impact on your company policies, which must be updated even if you only pay SSP. Finally, the course considers the financial implications for employers.
By the end of this course, you will be better prepared to manage SSP confidently and compliantly under the new rules taking effect in April 2026.
